The Mejlis of Turkmenistan of the fourth convocation passed the laws "On approval and introduction of the criminal procedure code" and "On approval and introduction of labor code" at its second session in Ashgabat on 18 April.
The laws were prepared "taking into account the provisions of the new Constitution of Turkmenistan, current laws as well as international legal standards" and "in the context of major priorities of the policy pursued by the president of Turkmenistan. These laws are integral part of the comprehensive programme on the formation of the modern legal basis," the Turkmen State News Agency (TDH) said.
Members of the Mejlis unanimously passed the law "On protecting and advocating breast feeding and requirements to baby food," "On quality and safety of food products", "On amendments to and annulment of some laws of Turkmenistan," "On election of members of Gengeshes" and "On procedures of passing decisions in relation to the administrative-territorial system of Turkmenistan as well as giving and changing names of state enterprises, organizations, entities and other facilities."
