September 1 in Turkmenistan is marked as the Knowledge and Students Day. The Turkmen media has published President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov’s congratulatory address to the students of schools, establishments of higher education, professors and all workers of the education system.

“At all times, the Turkmen people have attached great importance to the development of science and education, and became famous for Turkmen scientists and thinkers. Today, our nation holds the vast scientific heritage”, the statement says.

The president stressed that today, when Turkmenistan is at the stage of revival and its reputation is growing, the country particularly needs educated and talented young people and their creative potential to reach the new development horizons. “Therefore, the main objective and goal of the state education policy is to improve the education system, nurture the younger generation on the national and universal values, and develop a competitive system of education”, he said.

“Our wonderful country is turning into the land of eternal happiness, prosperity and inexhaustible wealth. And that means the student youth’s primary purpose during the New Revival era must be the diligent study, comprehension of sciences, and glorification of the beloved Homeland”, his message emphasized.

The head of state sent a separate welcome message to the cadets and instructors of the Police Academy of Turkmenistan, the new building of which had been opened a day before.
