A roundtable meeting on removing barriers to effective interaction between non-governmental organizations and political parties was organized by the OSCE Centre in Astana jointly with the Public Foundation for Parliamentary Development in Kazakhstan on Thursday.
More than 50 representatives of local non-governmental organizations and political parties, think tanks, and members of Parliament discussed ways to overcome obstacles to establishing constructive relations between political parties and NGOs. The participants also discussed what needs to be done to develop truly effective inter- and intra-party dialogue, and to foster constructive communication.
"One of the pillars of the OSCE''s work is to assist the participating States in the development of civil society by facilitating the dialogue between political parties and non-governmental organizations that should pursue a common goal of serving the people and safeguarding democratic principles," said Alexandre Keltchewsky, the Head of the OSCE Centre in Astana.
