Kyrgyzstan should not restrict its foreign policy to old ties, Kurmanbek Bakiev the President of Kyrgyzstan said Thursday on celebration of 65th anniversary of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry.
In view of the president, foreign policy of Kyrgyzstan should remain multi-vector. He outlined necessity of “efficient cooperation with different continents, countries, international organizations on all levels.”
As to Bakiev, diplomats should clearly understand strategic goals and priorities of the country, predict changes in the world, operatively and coordinately respond to challenges and threats, analyze plans and projects of various geopolitical players, improve foreign policy on the basis of national interests.
“We should proceed from real view of the international situation. Every decision in foreign policy sphere has to follow thorough analysis of its consequences for Kyrgyzstan,” the president said.
It is time to reconsider situation over Kyrgyzstan and country’s capabilities for counteraction to modern challenges and threats. “I do not mean radical changes in foreign policy course. We will strictly observe agreements and liabilities,” he added.
