DUSHANBE, March 2, 2012, Asia-Plus – A two-day seminar entitled “Sustainable development: A key factor for stability and peace in Central Asia” is concluding in Tashkent, Uzbekistan today.
Organized by the United Nations Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) with support of the Government of Finland, the seminar has brought together representatives from the institutes of strategic studies, Governmental structures and academic circles of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, as well as international experts.
According to the UNRCCA press center reports, the main objective of the event is in analyzing the impact of socio-economic processes on security and stability in Central Asia and looking for ways to further implement the concept of sustainable development in the region. The seminar has covered such areas as sustainable development, security and regional cooperation; social sustainability; economic stability; energy security; climate change and other environmental challenges.
