DUSHANBE, May 7, Asia-Plus  -- A ceremony of opening of the Republican Female Sports Games was held at the Central Stadium in Dushanbe Tuesday evening.  

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Mavlon Sharipov, head of the information-analytical department within the Committee for Youth, Sports and tourism Affairs, said the competition at the republican level is being held for the first time over the past 14 years.  

According to him, sportswomen from different regions of the country are competing in table tennis, volleyball, basketball and track and field athletics.

The contest runs though May 10, according to him.
