DUSHANBE, February 17, 2009, Asia-Plus  -- Two Tajik athletes representing Tajikistan in the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games have won four gold medals, according to the Special Olympics Tajikistan.

We will recall that the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games were held in the city of Boise, Idaho, USA from February 3 through February 13.

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, the Special Olympic Tajikistan chairperson, Ms. Dilbar Sharipova, said that Shohrukh Mahmoudov and Firdavs Murodov that had represented Tajikistan in the Games had won four gold medals in the alpine skiing competitions.

Special Olympics is an international organization created to help people with intellectual disabilities develop self-confidence, social skills and a sense of personal accomplishment. Among their other activities, Special Olympics conducts the Special Olympics World Games every two years, alternating between Summer and Winter Games
