DUSHANBE, March 1, Asia-Plus - On Monday February 27, Sharif Saidov, head of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), met with visiting Iranian delegation led by Ms. Sumayra Ravankhah, chairperson of the department for foreign economic relations of Tehran’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
According to information from the CCI, their talks focused on prospects of further expansion of economic and trade cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran. During the meeting it was noted that bilateral relationships between the two countries had expanded over the past several years and the Anzob tunnel linking northern Tajikistan to the center would be finished by the Navruz Holiday.
In the course of the talks Sharif Saidov termed processing of farm produce, including cotton, cocoons, leather raw materials and wool, mining, chemical industry, oil and gas extraction as well as tourism as branches for Iranian investments.
For her part, Ms. Ravankhah noted that the Iranian side would make every effort to expand bilateral cooperation between the two countries. She added that a special stress would be laid on realization of unused potentials of Tajikistan.
