Russian energy head to arrive in Dushanbe next week

, April 7, Asia-Plus - Anatoly Chubais, head of
Russia
’s Unified Energy Systems (RAO YeES Rossii), will arrive in
Tajikistan
on April 12 for a two-day working visit.
According to information from the Tajik Ministry of Energy, during his stay in
Tajikistan
the YeES head intends to hold talks with President Emomali Rahmonov and senior representatives from the Tajik Ministry of Energy to discuss the construction of Sangtuda-1 hydropower plant in
Tajikistan
. Chubais also will visit a site for the station.
The source says some 37 percent of a total volume of works have been to date done on the site for Sangtuda-1 station.
We will recall that the construction of Sangtuda-1 station officially commenced in April 2005, and YeES, which has undertaken to complete the construction of Sangtuda-1 hydropower plant, will finish the project in April 2009. As it had been reported earlier,

signed a protocol in
Dushanbe
in January last year for
Russia
to complete the construction of Sangtuda-1 station in
Tajikistan
. The budget for the construction of Sangtuda-1 power plant is 428 million U.S. dollars.
The rated capacity of this station will more than 650 megawatt and it will be capable to generate 2.7 billion kWh a year.
