DUSHANBE, May 16, Asia-Plus -- In April, growth in inflation in Tajikistan amounted to 2.8 percent, according to figures provided by the State Committee for Statistics.
The State Committee for Statistics says that prices of products of food industry rose by 2.5 percent in April. Non-foodstuffs rose in cost by 0.1 percent and paid services rendered to the population rose by 9.5 percent during last month.
Since the beginning of the year, a rate of inflation in the country’s consumer sector has amounted to 6.2 percent. In January-April this year, prices of products of Tajikistan’s food industry have risen by 7 percent. Non-foodstuffs have risen by 0.1 percent over the same four-month period with the prices increasing mostly for building materials and clothing. The paid services rendered to the population have risen by 13.7 percent in January-April this year.
The cost of the set of food products included in the consumer basket for actual consumption (based on figures from households studied during January-April this year) in prices as of end of April was 46.7 Somonis (14.5 U.S. dollars) per one family member per month, and with the norm for a balanced diet it would had amounted to 96.5 Somonis.
We will recall that last year inflation rate in Tajikistan amounted to 7.1 percent.
