DUSHANBE, May 30, Asia-Plus -- Tajikistan’s Railways has launched triple-weekly rail communication service between Dushanbe and Moscow.
According to information from Tajik Railways, a triple-weekly rail communications service has been launched since May 29. The source says trains bound for Moscow will depart from Dushanbe on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Besides, the second railway line from the Tajik city of Kulob to Moscow will be opened on June 2, launching twice-weekly rail communications service between Kulob and Moscow, according to the source. Trains will depart from Kulob on Mondays and Fridays.
As it had been reported earlier, after being closed for four years, the railway line from Dushanbe to Moscow was reopened in October last year. The Dushanbe-Moscow railway line has been suspended since 2001 because the Tajik rolling stock did not meet Russian technical and sanitary requirements. Russia agreed to reopen the rail line between Dushanbe and Moscow only after Tajik Railways completed the modernization of its trains.
