Tajik border service chief, Iranian general discuss in Tehran cooperation issues

, June 14, Asia-Plus - On June 11-13, Chairman of the Committee for Protection of the State Border of Tajikistan, Colonel-General Saydamir Zuhurov, was on his working visit to
Iran
, according to information from Tajik border service.
During his staying in Tehran Saydamir Zuhurov yesterday met with Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Major-General Yahya Rahim Safavi. Their talks focused on state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between
Tajikistan
and
Iran
in the field of security and protection of border in
Tajikistan
.
In the course of the talks General Zuhurov said noted that
Tajikistan
was pleased with broadening relations with
Iran
since its independence. Tajik border service chief stressed that
Tajikistan
was ready to cooperate with
Iran
in various domains, particularly in fighting terrorism and drug trafficking. He also expressed satisfaction with thorough expansion of cooperation between the two countries in various political, economic and security fields.
For his part, Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps said that
Iran
was ready to transfer its experience in the filed of security and border guarding to
Tajikistan
. He expressed hope that expansion of mutual ties and development of inland connecting routes between the two countries via
Afghanistan
as well as railroads and air link would contribute to making the historical
Silk Road
active once more.
