Some 2.5 tons of drugs intercepted by Tajik power-wielding structures over the first six months of this year

Tajikistan
’s power-wielding structures have intercepted some 2.5 tons of drugs over the first six months of this year. The totaled included more than 1,200 kilograms of heroin.
Speaking to journalists, the DCA chief Rustam Nazarov noted that 50 percent of those drugs had been seized at the border and the remaining 50 percent had been intercepted inside the country.
“Officers from the DCA and special services of Afghanistan have carried out three joint operations that have led to the seizure of ”135 kilograms of drugs, including 91 kilograms of heroin,” said Rustam Nazarov, “over the past two-three years, the poppy cultivation in Afghanistan has remained high, and annually, some 4,000 tons of drugs are produced from it.”
He noted that

was not the only conduit for narcotics. “According to the latest data of the United Nations, only 19 percent of Afghan drugs are traveling through “the northern route” –

,” Mr. Nazarov concluded.
