QURGHON TEPPA, August 14, Asia-Plus -- The head of the Khatlon Justice Department, Ms. Saodat Amirshoyeva, claims that a number of district publications in the Khatlon province operate illegally.
According to her, of 36 regional and district publications functioning in Khatlon, only 12 have been registered with the regional justice department. She added that despite numerous warnings, editors of those publications ignored the necessity of registration with the Khatlon justice department.
Asked about the possibility of closing these publications, MS. Amirshoyeva noted that the prosecutor’s office controlled over observance of laws. “It is the prosecutor’s office that should check and close illegal publications,” the Khatlon justice department head said, noting that the justice department has not yet been applied to the prosecutor’s office on this subject.
“We have repeatedly applied to all banks operating in the region with solicitation to close bank accounts of the illegal publications and other organizations, but bankers have not supported us,” Ms. Amirshoyeva concluded.
