DUSHANBE, August 30, Asia-Plus-- A delegation of six U.S. Congressional staffers appraised U.S.-funded border, security and law enforcement projects August 24-25.
According to information from the U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe, the delegation visited several project sites, such as the $36 million U.S. - funded bridge linking Tajikistan and Afghanistan at Panji Poyon. The staffers also met with the Drug Control Agency and the State Committee on Border Protection.
The delegation had a productive trip, which provided an honest assessment of the Government of Tajikistan’s efforts to secure its borders and combat drug trafficking. The staffers saw first-hand the positive impact U.S. and international assistance has had on curbing drug trafficking.
