KULOB/DUSHANBE, September 13, Asia-Plus - Tajik-Chinese joint military exercise is expected to be conducted at the Mumirak military range in southern Tajikistan in late September, according to information from the Ministry of Defense (MoD).
A source in the MoD said the exercise will be conducted in accordance with an agreement reached between the governments of the two countries. It is not yet clear how many servicemen from the Tajik and Chinese armed forces will be involved in the upcoming war game.
Meanwhile, Chinese military planes have been arriving in the Kulob airport since September 11, the Asia-Plus’ correspondent for Kulob reported. They are airlifting Chinese servicemen and their arms in Kulob. Transfer of Chinese servicemen and their arms to Kulob will last till September 21.
According to reliable source in the Kulob mayor’s office, the Chinese servicemen will be deployed in the area near the village of Turkoni in the Muminobod district. The Kulob authorities are providing them with tents and food products, the source said.
