DUSHANBE, September 13, Asia-Plus - On September 24, Tajikistan’s Small Academy will opens its doors to a group of schoolchildren to explain the work of the Small Academy and admit some of them.
Ms. Svetlana Blagoveshchenskaya, Academic Secretary of the Tajik Small Academy, told Asia-Plus that pupils of 8 th – 10 th forms may join any of 12 scientific disciplines. According to her, the main objective of the Small Academy is to inculcate in school students an interest in carrying out research work and train them in writing papers on scientific theme they have chosen.
“Since 1997, it is the first acceptance of school students for working with the Small Academy,” said Blagoveshchenskaya. “We now accept competitively selected school students for working with the Small Academy annually.” The Small Academy also plans to open branches in Khorog, Khujand, Kulob and Qurghon Teppa.
During the academic year, students accepted in the Small Academy will study disciplines they have chosen and in May 2007, they will read papers to get the grade 1, 2 and 3 diplomas. In 2008, they will receive titles of corresponding members and full members of the Small Academy.
Members of the Small Academy are admitted for studying at higher educational institutions in the republic on preferential terms.
ABOUT: The Small Academy of Tajikistan was established in 1971. Before the collapse of the Soviet Union it was among the five best academies following the small academies of Sverdlovsk, Chelaybinck, Crimea, and Novosibirsk.
