DUSHANBE, September 18, Asia-Plus - A new cotton-ginning factory “HIMA Textiles” is supposed to be launched in the Yovon district, Khatlon, in early October.
According to information from the Ministry of Industry, the “HIMA Textiles” cotton-ginning factory was supposed to be opened in Yovon on September 7 already, for some technical reasons the launch of the factory has been postponed.
A source in the Ministry of Industry said the Dushanbe limited liability company “HIMA” had constructed this cotton ginning factory. “The construction was launched last year, and HIMA has invested more than US$18 million invested in the construction of company,” the source said, noting that more than a half of this amount has already been assimilated.
“The factory has not been provided with necessary equipment completely, and therefore an official opening of the factory has been postponed,” the Asia-Plus interlocutor said.
The source added that the new cotton-ginning factory in Yovon has the capacity of processing 4,000 tons of cotton a year. The factory is also expected to produce yarn. The equipment for the factory has been purchased from Italia’s company “Marcolli” (phonetically spelled). Besides, the Italian company has agreed to send its representative to Tajikistan to work as technical director with the factory during two years, according to the source.
The source said the factory will employ 230 people and will work in four shifts.
ABOUT: HIMA acting as futures company has been operated in Tajikistan since 1996. The “HIMA” corporation has two cotton-ginning factories in Hissor and Yovon.
All in all, at present 18 cotton-ginning factories operate in Tajikistan. Las year, they processed 18,800 tons of cotton.
