DUSHANBE, September 18, Asia-Plus - A joint operation by officers from Tajik counternarctotics agency and interior ministry’s anti-drug department yesterday led to the seizure of 20 kilograms of raw opium at the Tajik northern town of Panjakent, press service of the Drug Control Agency (DCA) reported.
A source in the DCA press service said the drugs were confiscated from Uzbek national, who said that he had purchased the drugs for pushing in Samarqand.
“Besides, 17 packages containing totaling more than 15 kilograms of heroin were intercepted in an operation carried out by officers from the DCA in Khujand last Friday,” the DCA source said, adding that the intercepted drugs were intended for transporting to the Russian Federation.
