DUSHANBE, October 3, Asia-Plus -- On Monday October 2, Tajikistan’s Central Commission for Elections and Referenda (CCER) organized a seminar for journalists on election issues.
The seminar entitled “Mass Media and Right of Citizens to Participate in Political Life and Management of State” was staged by the information-analytical department of President’s Executive office in cooperation with the UN Tajikistan Office of Peace-Building (UNTOP).
The seminar participants included representatives of media from Gorno Badakhshan, Dushanbe, Khatlon and districts subordinate to the center (RRP).
The meeting focused on Tajikistan’s election legislation and international norms and standards of elections. Participants in the seminar considered issues related to activity of the CCER, responsibility of media and journalists, legal and practical aspects of relationships between media and electoral commissions, government agencies and public associations during preparation and holding of the presidential election in Tajikistan.
