DUSAHNBE, October 12, Asia-Plus - Tajikistan plans to have produced more than 75,000 tons of coal this year. 

A source at a Ministry of Industry said over the past nine months, the ministry’s enterprises have extracted 71,206 tons of coal produced, which is 94.7 percent of the target.   

The limited liability company Sangtalt, located in the Ziddi area of Varzob, extracted 2,200 tons of coal in September, which exceeds the September target by 120 percent.  

Coal-extracting enterprises in Sughd have extracted 28,117 tons of coal so far, which is 93.7 percent of the target determined at 30,000 tons.  

Khatlon coal-miners have extracted 1,336 tons of coal so far, which is 66.8 percent of the target.  They have pledged to extract 2,000 tons of coal this year.  

The limited liability company VTI-Pomir in Gorno Badakhshan has extracted 631 tons of coal over the same nine-month period, which is 78.9 percent of the target.  Its target is 800 tons of coal.   

According to the source, Tajikistan’s 2006 national budget stipulated expenditure of 600,000 somonis on development of the coal-mining sector and further 110,000 somonis were provided for prospecting for coals.  

In January-September, the coal-mining enterprises have realized coals for a total amount of 2,170,900 somonis.
