DUSHANBE, October 30, Asia-Plus - A polling station set up at the Tajik Embassy in Moscow has received voting-papers for the presidential election set for November 6, Muhammad Egamzod, media officer at the Tajik Embassy in Moscow, told Asia-plus by phone.
“Since October 29, representatives from electoral commission have traveled to the largest regions of Russia, where polling points for Tajiks living or temporarily staying in Russia will open,” said Egamzod, “We have reached an agreement with local authorities of these regions on informing Tajik nationals living in these regions about the election through local media. Local media are also expected to publish materials of representatives of the electoral commission.”
Besides, a special edition of the newspaper “Tojikoni Rossiya” (Tajiks in Russia) dedicated to the presidential election has been brought out in Moscow. The newspaper contains materials about all candidates for president and their election programs. The newspaper’s copies will be distributed to polling stations set up in 28 cities of the Russian Federation.
According to the Tajik Embassy in Moscow, heads of Tajik public associations active in Russia gathered in the Russian city of Samara at the end of last week. The meeting focused on the upcoming presidential election in Tajikistan. Participants at the meeting adopted a statement, in which they expressed support for incumbent President Emomali Rahmonov.
