DUSHANBE, November 16, Asia-Plus - 39 countries of the world have provided humanitarian aid to Tajikistan in January-October this year, according to the State Committee for Statistics. .
During this period, more than 41,400 tons of goods worth 20.1 million US dollars were delivered to the country, the committee said.
24,600 tons of wheat flour, 34,600 tons of vegetable oil, other foodstuffs, and also footwear, clothing and medicines were distributed to the poorest sectors of the population and residents of areas hit by natural disasters.
The humanitarian aid provided to Tajikistan over the report period also included building materials, transportation vehicles, computers and so forth.
Among the donor countries the greatest share in value came from the United States – 45.7 percent, Latvia – 12.1 percent, Germany - 4.5 percent, the Netherlands – 2.7 percent, and of the CIS countries: Russia – 13.3 percent; Kazakhstan - 4.7 percent; Uzbekistan – 0.7 percent and Belarus – 0.5 percent.
