KHUJAND, December 6, Asia-Plus - Under the strict electricity cutback introduced in the region electrical power will be enough for daily consumption only in the event if it is used for light only, Muminjon Toshmatov, head of the Sughd electric systems, announced at a briefing in Khujand on December 5.
According to him, since late November, the Sughd province has received electricity at the rate of 150 megawatt/hour per day, while the province daily needs 750 megawatt/hour of electricity.
He stressed that at present only facilities of the strategic significance, including enterprises producing bread and other food products, receive power supplies. “Adrasman and Ayni ore refineries, as well as gold-mining companies receive normal power supplies, while some joint ventures in the province are not in operation because of severe power shortages,” Toshmatov said, noting that electricity will not be supplied to schools.
According to him, the electricity debt of the public has amounted to nearly 44 million somonis.
