KHUJAND, December 21, Asia-Plus -- Officers from the Drug Control Agency (DCA) directorate for Sughd have intercepted more than 140 kilograms of drugs in an operation in the Bobojonghafurov district.
A source at the Sughd drug control directorate said that their officers seized more than 140 kilograms of drugs in the Bobojonghafurov district today morning. The totaled included 100 kilograms of raw opium and more than 40 kilograms of heroin. “The drugs were found in the house of a 35-year-old resident of the Bobojonghafurov district; his name is nod disclosed in interest of the investigation,” the Sughd drug control officer Ikrom Ahmadov said, noting that it was the largest single consignment of dugs seized in the province this year.
A Kuknor-2006 (Poppy) Operation carried out in the province from May 1 to November 20 led to the seizure of 130 kilograms of drugs, according to him.
Over the past eleven months, officers from the Sughd counternarcotics directorate have intercepted more than 174 kilograms of drugs. In all, more than 300 kilograms of drugs have been seized by all the Sughd law enforcement agencies in January-November this year, according to Ikromov.
