DUSHANBE, January 12, Asia-Plus - Russia’s Federal Drug Control Service (FSKN) plans to open its representative office in Tajikistan in the first quarter of this year, Tajik drug control chief Rustam Nazarov told journalists in Dushanbe today.
According to him, all necessary documents on this subject have already been signed and they are currently selecting candidate to head this unit.
The Drug Control Agency (DCA) director noted that this year, the Russian FSKN will have opened its representative offices also in the United States, Austria, Iran, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
Krister Brannerud (phonetically spelled), representative from the UNODC Regional Office for Central Asia, told journalists that this year, Afghanistan is supposed to have produced 800 tons of heroin this year that may lead to reduction in prices of heroin and more availability of narcotics and thereby to increase in a number drug users.
