DUSHANBE, January 12, Asia-Plus -- The Committee for TV and Radio-broadcasting under the Government has applied to the Government asking for transferring the Open Joint-Stock Company Teleradiocom from the Ministry of Transport and Communications to the Committee’s jurisdiction.
Asadullo Rahmonov, head of the Committee for TV and Radio-broadcasting, told journalists in Dushanbe today that a commission for restructuring enterprises is currently working on this issue and will make a decision in 15 days. “This move has been made for the purpose of facilitating development of this branch,” said Rahmonov, “We have a specific plan for improving economic state both of the Committee and Teleradiocom.”
According to him, the Committee and Teleradiocom jointly installed 160 TV- and 65 radio-transmitting stations in the republic last year. Now, programs of TVT can be picked up by 98.5 percent of the country’s population, TV Safina by 55.8 percent, Children’s TV Bahoriston by 54 percent and programs of Tajik radio can be picked up by 78.2 percent of the population.
