DUSHANBE, January 13, Asia-Plus - The Ministry of Education (MoE) plans to tighten measure to provide transparency and prevent corruption during entrance examinations.
Education Minister Abdujabbor Rahmonov told a news conference in Dushanbe on January 12 that a special working group had been set up to monitor examination process.
“Besides, the ministry recommends schools and other educational facilities to give up a practice to arrange any parties, for example on occasion of the final examinations, or banquets in restaurants and caf?s,” the minister said, noting that it would be better to hold such celebrations at schools. “The best present for teacher is flowers,” Rahmonov stressed.
According to him, he will pass special resolution banning to hold banquets ahead of last school rings and the final examination parties.
On a trend towards decreasing enrolment by girls and increasing drop-out of girls from schools after the ninth form, the minister sad that they are taking measures eliminate gender disparities in primary and secondary schools. Heads of city and district education departments are ordered to submit to the ministry lists of school-age children who do attend schools. “Besides, to draw girls into education process three-month courses on different specialties will be organized for girls at schools and technical-vocational schools,” Rahmonov said.
“We also plan jointly with the Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism organize special vocational-training courses for street children,” the minister said.
