DUSHANBE, January 17, Asia-Plus - Library stock of Tajikistan State Medical University will be replenished with new textbooks, Muazamma Jamolova, health program coordinator at the Swiss Cooperation Office (SDC) in Tajikistan, said.
According to her, a ceremony of the signing of an agreement on purchase of 3,500 new textbooks for a total amount of US$145,000 will be held in Dushanbe tomorrow. Ubaidullo Qurbonov, Rector of Medical University and Rudolf Schoch (phonetically spelled), Head of SDC in Tajikistan, will ink the agreement.
“The textbooks will probably be purchased in Russia because there is no necessary methodological literature in Tajikistan,” Jamolova said, that the literature to be purchased includes different textbooks, encyclopedias and atlases, as well as English.
During a meeting with administration and employees of the University’s library it was noted that it is currently in a very poor state and experiencing an acute shortage of many textbooks.
SDC is funding in Tajikistan a series of projects supporting development of primary medical and sanitary services and family medicine in the country.
