DUSHANBE, February 2, Asia-Plus - Tajikistan’s cellular operator Indigo Somoncom has managed to provide coverage to the most remote mountain areas in northern Tajikistan.  

Mahmadjon Homidov, director general of Indigo Somoncom that operates in the Sughd province said in an interview with Asia-Plus that the company last year expanded its operations into the Kuhistoni Mastchoh district, as well as settlements of Punghoz, Bobodarkhon and Adrasmon and Anzob and Shahriston passes.

“Basic station installed in the village of Panjkhok has allowed providing coverage to the south portal of the Anzob pass,” Homidov said, adding that special equipment installed at the entrance to the tunnel enables customers of Indigo Somoncom to receive and send calls to the distance of 2,500 meters deep into the tunnel.  

According to him, they last year also improved and expanded coverage to  Panjakent, Ayni, Jabborrasulov, Spitamen and Shahriston districts as well as cities of Qairoqqum, Chkalovsk, Taboshar and the village of Somgor.  

Homidov said that the company in 2006 modernized the network and expanded commutator up to 200,000 subscribers.
