DUSHANBE, January 7, Asia-Plus -- On February 6, President Emomali Rahmonov held talks in Cairo with Safvat al-Sharif, Speaker of the Shura Council (Majilis Al-Shura), upper house of Egyptian bicameral parliament, Abdufattoh Sharipov, a spokesman for the Tajik president, reported from Cairo.
According to him, in the course of the talks the two underlined an important role of the legislative bodies of the two countries in laying legal foundation of bilateral cooperation and agreed to make efforts to promote close parliamentary cooperation between Tajikistan and Egypt.
“Safvat al-Sharif seconded President’s Rahmonov’s initiatives, in particular on mutual opening of embassies of the two countries and noted that his country is interested in expanding cooperation with Tajikistan,” the spokesman said.
