DUSHANBE, February 12, Asia-Plus -- On Friday February 9, Tajik President Emomali Rahmonov met in Damascus with Syrian Speaker of People’s Assembly Dr. Mahmoud al-Abrash.
Abdufattoh Sharipov, a spokesman for the Tajik president, said that Rahmonov and al-Abrash had pointed out an important role of legislative bodies of Tajikistan and Syria in providing legal foundation of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
Rahmonov noted at the meeting that parliaments of the two countries can actively facilitate provisions for political and legal conditions to investment and regulation of economic cooperation, as well as acceleration of growth in trade turnover and expansion of scientific and cultural ties between the two countries, the spokesman said.
For his part, Mahmoud al-Abrash said that his country is interested in expansion of many-sided cooperation with Tajikistan, according to Sharipov.
The two also discussed international and regional issues being of mutual interest.
