DUSHANBE, February 26, Asia-Plus - Two operations by Tajik police led to the seizure of totaling some 35 kilograms of drugs in the Khatlon province on Sunday, according to the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
The source at a MoI said that the operation carried out in the Hamadoni district on February 25 led to the arrest of Afghan drug trafficker Ibrohim valadi Nazirmat. 21 packages containing 20.625 kilograms of raw opium were confiscated fro him.
The same day, Qurbonali Sultiyev, a resident of the Panj district, was arrested by officers from the squad for combating drug trafficking (drug police) of the Khatlon police directorate on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking. 11 kilograms of raw opium, more than one kilogram of hashish, 890 grams of heroin and 765 grams of marijuana were confiscated from him, according to the source.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted and investigations are under way.
