DUSHANBE, March 28, Asia-Plus -- Thirteen international observers are waiting for accreditation at Tajikistan’s Central Commission for Elections and Referenda (CCER) for monitoring voting process in three constituencies, where parliamentary by-elections will be held on April 1. 

Muhibullo Dodojonov, a spokesman for the CCER, said that a list submitted to the Tajik MFA for consideration includes representatives from the embassies of Germany, France, the United States, the Great Britain in Dushanbe, as well as the OSCE Center in Dushanbe and the European Commission Delegation in Tajikistan.  

“Since they failed to have registered at the CCER by the date fixed, now the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will make decision on registration of them,” the CCER spokesman said.  

Under the country’s legislation, observers should be accredited at the commission 10 days before the by-elections.

The country’s budget has provided more than 30,000 somonis (equivalent to nearly US$9,000) for holding the by-elections. 

As it had been reported earlier, representatives of two political parties – ruling People’s Democratic Party and Islamic Revival Party – will contest three vacant seats in the Majlisi Namoyandagon.  The CCER has registered six candidates for April 1 parliamentary by-elections that will be held in Firdavsi (Dushanbe), Hamadoni and Kulob constituencies.
