DUSHANBE, April 6, Asia-Plus - Close political cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia allows both states optimizing bilateral relations, giving new impulse to further expansion of them, a telegram sent by President Emomali Rahmon to his Russian counterpart, President Vladimir Putin, on occasion of the 15th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries said.
The telegram posted on the Tajik MFA’s website, in particular, said that over the past 15 years, strategic partnership between Tajikistan and Russia has expanded forwardly and today it is an important factor of peace, stability and strengthening of regional cooperation not only in Central Asia but also within the CIS area as a whole.
In his telegram, Rahmon especially underlined the significance of development of military-technical cooperation, expansion of trade and economic relations, implementation of large projects being of regional importance, especially in the field of energy.
Diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation were established on April 8, 1992.
