DUSAHNBE, July 9, Asia-Plus – Itar Tass – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has expressed confidence that the SCO summit due in Bishkek on August 16 will be held at the proper level taking into account the preparation of documents and organizing issues.
“On August 17, our leaders will attend the active phase of the SCO Peace Mission-2007 anti-terror exercise in the Chelyabinsk region,” he told a meeting of the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers on Monday.
“The results and decisions of the upcoming summit will make a considerable contribution to higher stability and security and the development of integration processes on the SCO space in the interests of our countries, people and the whole region,” Lavrov said.
He pointed to importance of “the Bishkek declaration that reflects realities of the modern stage of the world development.”
“Its central thesis is adherence of the SCO member-states to joint building a just and democratic world order in strict compliance with the international law,” the minister said.
“A plan for actions to ensure international information security will become a collective contribution to resolving pressing global problems. We have all grounds to brief our presidents that their instructions are being fulfilled,” Lavrov said.
