DUSHANBE, July 13, Asia-Plus — An operational-tactical drill, dubbed “North-2007”, is ongoing in the Sughd province.
According to press service of the Ministry of Defense (MoD), the exercise that started on July 10 involves sub-units of the power-wielding structures deployed in northern Tajikistan.
The drill is held in accordance with the complex plan of Tajikistan’s Armed Forces designed for 2006-2007 and aimed at raising fighting efficiency of sub-units of the Sughd garrison, the MoD spokesman said.
According to him, the purpose of exercise is to rehearse cooperation and interaction between sub-units in the missions to stabilize the situation and annihilate terrorist groups,
The drill, including command-staff training for commanders and operational-tactical exercise for troops, will close on July 21 with a final phase featuring live-fire missions.
