KHUJAND, August 16, Asia-Plus /Mavluda Rafiyeva/ -- Uzbek border guards wounded Tajik national on August 15, Asia-Plus has learned at the Sughd police directorate.
The source at the Sughd police directorate told Asia-Plus that the incident took place near the border village of Guliston, Poldarak jamoat in the Mastchoh district Wednesday evening. “The 32-year-old resident of the Poldarak jamoat Mahmadsharif Rizoyev was wounded as Uzbek border guards fired at him,” the source said.
Rizoyev is currently in the resuscitation department of the central district hospital in Mastchoh.
A prosecutor’s office in the Mastchoh district has instituted criminal proceedings to probe into the incident.
According to the Sughd border protection directorate, the preliminary investigation has established that Mahmadsharif Rizoyev did not cross the border and was in the Tajik territory. Investigation is under way.
