DUSHANBE, September 3, Asia-Plus — The results of the first stage of the anti-drug Channel 2007 Operation carried out by member nation of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will be summed up tomorrow afternoon, at 4:00 p.m., Asia-Plus has learned from Avaz Yuldoshev, a spokesman for the Tajik Drug Control Agency (DCA).
The first stage of the operation will end today night, at 24:00, the spokesman said.
According to Yuldoshev, Tajikistan has stood in first place among countries participating in anti-drug Channel 2007 Operation in terms of the amount of contraband drugs seized, having intercepted 212.846 kilograms of drugs on August 28-30.
The totaled included 116.495 kilograms of heroin, 10.12 kilograms of raw opium, and 86.23 kilograms of the cannabis-group drugs.
The spokes added that the final results of the first stage of the Channel 2007 Operation will be published Tuesday afternoon.
We will recall that member nations of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan) have participated in the first stage of the Channel 2007 Operation that was launched on August 28 and will end today at 24:00.
Representatives from Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Estonia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, China, Mongolia, Afghanistan, Iran, and the United States as well as officers from Interpol have attended the first stage of the operation as observers.
The Channel Operation, involving law enforcement agencies of member nations of the CSTO, has been conducted annually since 2003.
