KHUJAND, September 12, Asia-Plus — A September 8 meeting of the board of the Democratic Party (DPT) organization for the Sughd province made a decision to remove Jumaboy Niyozov from his post of the head of the DPT regional organization in Sughd.
Six members of the board too part at the meeting and five of them voted for removing Jumaboy Niyozov and electing Abdujabbor Yuldoshev as the new leader of the DPT organization for Sughd.
Abdujabbor Yuldoshev had previously been the first deputy head of the Sughd organization and head of the DPT organization in the Bobojonghafurov district.
This split has sparked charges and countercharges.
Niyozov says this decision was illegal because only the party regional conference can remove him. “The board does not have the right to remove the head, his deputies, or even regular members,” Niyozov said, adding that he assess this split not only just the split in the regional organization but as the split in the party as a whole.
“The board members say that in 2005, I did not support the board’s decision to participate in presidential elections in cooperation with the People’s Democratic Party (PDPT),” said Niyozov, “But the party that time decided to boycott the presidential elections and therefore there was no necessity to discuss the possibility of joint participation in the presidential elections.”
Besides, the board also raised the issue of the party property and the Sughd regional Economic Court is currently considering this issue, according to Jumaboy Niyozov
In the meantime, Fayzullo Fayziyev, the head of the DPT city organization for Khujand, said in an interview with Asia-Plus that Niyozov is currently also acting as chairman of the DPT in the absence of Mahmadruzi Iskandarov, and therefore, they made a decision to remove him before the party regional conference in order that he will have an opportunity to concentrate on work in the capital city. “The next party regional conference will be held within the next three months,” Fayziyev said.
