DUSHANBE, September 18, Asia-Plus — Tajik police officers detained a 20-year-old resident of Afghanistan’s Takhor region Bismilloh valadi Rajabmad in the Farkhor district, Khatlon yesterday, Asia-Plus has learned at the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
The source at a MoI said that more than 24 kilograms of heroin had been confiscated from him. Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the Afghan citizen and an investigation is under way.
Over the first eight months of this year, Tajik law enforcement agencies have intercepted 3,568 kilograms of drugs, with 1,122 kilograms of them being heroin.
Of this amount, 1,954 kilograms, including 709 kilograms of heroin, have been seized by the MoI officers. Besides, another 78.5 kilograms of heroin have been seized by Tajik police in cooperation with Russian drug police during nine "checked deliveries of drugs" operations.
