DUSHANBE, September 26, Asia-Plus — The workshop, organized the International Trade Center (ITC) and Tajikistan’s Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MoDT) has opened in Dushanbe today morning.
The workshop has brought together representatives from the ministries and organizations dealing with electronic commerce issues, as well as small and medium enterprises.
Abdulfattoh Shafiyev, ITC’s national consultant for public relations, said that the workshop is presenting a new ITC’s project on e-business for Tajikistan to enhance online competitiveness of agro-processing SMEs (small and medium enterprises) including development of e-business websites, sector’s portal, and facilitating access to relevant e-marketplaces.
“The project on e-business for Tajikistan is a pilot phase of the sustainable package of technical assistance on development of the electronic commerce,” said Shafiyev, “The project is based on ITC’s strategy of support for development of potentials of developing countries in efficient use of information and communication technologies for the purpose of developing export. It will increase their competitiveness in the network export operations.”
The workshop is also initiating dialogue between export managers and strategy-makers to narrow the gap between decision-makers and industries in national and international e-business.
The International Trade Centre (ITC) is the joint technical cooperation agency of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
