DUSHANBE, September 27, —  Tajik Ministry of Education (MoD) has denied reports by some media that 220 students at Khujand-based State University of Law, Politics and Business were allegedly expelled s “founded.” 

Ferghana.ru reported that by order of Education Minister Abdujabbor Rahmonov 220 students at State University of Law, Politics and Business had been expelled.  Some of them were expelled for refusing to work in cotton plantations and the others were expelled for failed tests, Ferghana.ru said.  “According to students, many of them wee expelled for failed tests; they could not pass them because they were sent to cotton fields,” Ferghana.ru said.  

Nouriddin Saidov, an official with a MoD, today said in an interview with Asia-Plus that the ministry had not given any written or verbal order on expulsion of students.
