DUSHANBE, October 3, Asia-Plus -- In connection with the upcoming summit meetings that will be held in Dushanbe from October 5 to October 6, Tajik border troops have upgraded border protection measures, Asia-Plus has learned at the main border troops directorate of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB).
All border-crossing checkpoints on Tajikistan’s national border have been closed and only representatives from diplomatic mission and international organizations active in Tajikistan may proceed via the border-crossing points. “This restriction has been effective since October and will last through October 10,” the source at the main border troops directorate said.
Tajik police have also toughened public order maintenance measures in Dushanbe and the nearby districts.
