DUSHANBE, October 6, Asia-Plus – All key suggestions of Ukraine concerning the CIS reform were included in the CIS development concept and approved at the Friday summit, so “we can delay indefinitely the question of the expediency of the Ukrainian participation in that organization,” Foreign Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk said.

“The CIS should not be a political umbrella. It should have economic priorities,” he said. “Vladimir Putin’s support to the Ukrainian idea of a comprehensive free trade zone was the decisive factor.”

The summit also approved new approaches to the migration policy. “This is very important for Ukraine, as the lion’s share of illegal migrants in Ukraine come from CIS member countries,” the minister said.
