DUSHANBE, October 17, Asia-Plus -- The youth committee under the Tajik government has taken efforts to encourage young men to serve the army.
Abdurahmon Kholov, the head of the patriotic fostering support department of the Committee for Youth Affairs, Sports and Tourism, said in an interview with Asia-Plus that they had yielded quite good results in encouraging young people to serve in the army.
Thus, during the last spring conscription campaign, 1,437 young men joined up enlist in the army voluntarily, Kholov said.
The committee has instituted prize money and presents for young people who join up enlist in the army voluntarily, according to him.
“This year, the committee jointly with the ministry of education intends to get a quota for volunteers to study at higher educational institutions on completion of the military service,” Kholov said.
