DUSHANBE, October 24, Asia-Plus -- The Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) will be hosting an exhibition showcasing the work of its agencies, affiliates and programs operating in Tajikistan, Asia-Plus has learned from Sitora Shokamolova, Communication Officer, AKDN Tajikistan.. 

A two-day exhibition will open at the Kokhi Vahdat State Complex in Dushanbe on October 26.  

AKDN is one of the largest not for profit development networks in the world.  It consists of a group of nine agencies with mandates ranging from health and education to architecture, microfinance, disaster reduction, rural development, the promotion of private-sector enterprise and the revitalization of historic cities.  Guided by the Islamic ethic of compassion for those less fortunate, the AKDN works for the common good of all citizens, regardless of their gender, origin or religion.

The Exhibition will showcase AKDN’s work in Tajikistan and include over 20 exhibits spanning the following thematic areas: Education, Health, Rural Development, Civil Society, Economic Development, Higher Education, Disaster Risk Management, Culture, and Regional Cooperation.   In addition, there will be musical performances sponsored by the Aga Khan Music Initiative in Central Asia and film screening providing an overview of the history of the Imamat of His Highness the Aga Khan and of the work of the AKDN worldwide.

The Exhibition is part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations commemorating His Highness the Aga Khan’s 50 th year as the Imam of the Shia Ismaili community.
