DUSHANBE, November 14, Asia-Plus -- Issues related to the CIS migration policy in the light of demographic safety are focus of a two-day international conference formally titled “Migration Processes and Demographic Safety” that opened in Minsk, Belarus on November 14.
A source at the Interior Ministry Migration Service said the conference is discussing demographic safety and impact of migration processes on it.
The conference participants are also considering ways of management of migration flows in the light of demographic policy and countering illegal migration.
Experts from the CIS states will also exchange views on tackling the mentioned problems.
Zafar Gadoyev, the deputy head of the Interior Ministry Migration Service, is representing Tajikistan at the conference.
The conference is staged by Belarus’ Ministry of Interior (MoI) and Mission of International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Belarus as part of joint counter-trafficking project. Among co-organizers of the conference are UNICEF and UNFPA.
The conference is held under support of the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA).
