DUSHANBE, December 5, Asia-Plus -- Sergey Stepashin, Chairman of Russia’s Chamber of Accounts, heading a Russian delegation arrived in Tajikistan yesterday evening for a two-day working visit.

Today morning, Stepashin left for the site for construction of the Sangtuda-1 hydroelectric power station (HPS) on the Vakhsh River, construction of which is funded by Russia’s Unified Energy Systems (RAO YeES).   

According to the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption, the aim of his visit to Tajikistan is to get acquainted with a progress of construction of the station, the first unit of which is scheduled to be put into introduction on December 21.

According to open joint-stock company (OJSC) Sangtuda-1 HPS, no-load operation of the first unit is expected to start on December 15.       

Tomorrow, Stepashin is expected to attend a joint board meeting of the Tajik anticorruption agency and Russia’s Chamber of accounts in Dushanbe.
