DUSHANBE, January 3, Asia-Plus – Tajik border control officers have killed two smugglers of 60 kg of drugs, the spokesman for the country''s border control department said on Wednesday.
A group of armed trespassers opened fire at border control officers who attempted to prevent them from crossing the Pyandj River 160 km south of Dushanbe Tuesday night.
"Two offenders were killed in a clash, and another trespasser hid in an adjacent territory," the spokesman said.
Tajik border guards found 60 kg of raw opium and marijuana, two Kalashnikov assault rifles and two cartridges at the scene.
